Advanced Testing - with Ease of Use
The TestBench for iSeries family of products includes a range of
PC-based scripting modules that enable users to test any type of
application run over the iSeries. TestDrive-Green is the client
module for testing ‘green-screen’ applications.
Because these modules form part of a family, TestDrive-Green and
its 'sister' module TestDrive-Gold have
been designed with the same, easy-to-use interface that avoids
the need to spend time learning a scripting language. The
top-level controls are based on a simple one-click interface for
recording and playing back, making it accessible to even the
least technical of users. Yet beneath this lies a powerful level
of script controlling that also meets the needs of the most
technically advanced users.
Complete Testing of Server Activity
TestDrive-Green operates exclusively in conjunction with
TestBench for iSeries.
Complete integration with TestBench ensures maximum test
coverage for ‘green-screen’ applications. While TestDrive-Green checks
all the screen-based elements of an application, TestBench
checks all the related server activity. This includes: server
process tracking, data extraction and maintenance, environment
protection, central script and result storage, tracking and
analysis of all related database activity, and much more.
Furthermore, scripts, results and any variable data associated
with a script are stored centrally on the server - making these
resources available to the entire testing team.
TestDrive-Green also supports integration with TestBench-PC,
enabling some of the most commonly used features of TestBench to
be accessed on the server without using a green-screen at all.
Basic scripting is a simple, one click operation. During
playback, each screen is checked to confirm the actual against
expected results, with errors highlighted in a red/amber/green
‘traffic signal’ system.
But the best part is, playback of scripts can be done in the
background, so the PC is not ‘locked up’ during script re-runs.
